Just days after ordering all students and to wear a face mask because of the latest alleged circulating “strains” of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), Morris Brown College in Atlanta told its all-black campus that the mask mandate is now rescinded.
Apparently, too many people spoke out against the policy, which contradicts the latest science showing that face masks are certifiably useless when it comes to protecting against COVID infection and spread. So, Morris Brown College decided to join those of us on the right side of history by dropping the medical fascism bit.
If students and faculty at Morris Brown College want to wear a mask because they are scared or feel as though they do something other than cut off oxygen intake, then they are free to do so. But no longer will anyone at Morris Brown College be forced to mask up against their own will.
In a statement to Newsweek, college President Kevin James confirmed that the new temporary mask mandate has now come to an end. He did, however, say that the school will still “have several safety protocols in place,” whatever those might be.
(Related: Hollywood studio Lionsgate similarly reimplemented forced masking only to immediately rescind the policy following widespread opposition.)
Things are not fully back to normal at Morris Brown College, though. Pretty much every other protocol that was forced on people during COVID 1.0 will still be forced on them during COVID 2.0, at least on campus.
There is still a blanket prohibition on all parties and large events at Morris Brown College, the school indicated in a letter. All employees and students are also still required to undergo temperature checks every time they arrive on campus.
Social distancing will also still be enforced, meaning students at Morris Brown College are expected to remain in solitary confinement at all times. Those who test “positive” for COVID will also still be required to remain in total isolation for at least five days before being allowed to return to the presence of others, but at six feet or more away from all other people.
The decision to drop the mask mandate came after many politicians, including former President Donald Trump, blasted the notion on social media.
“Americans have had enough COVID hysteria,” tweeted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), an outspoken critic of COVID tyranny. “We will not comply!”
“Hear these words: We will not comply – so don’t even think about it,” Trump said in a video that was shared across social media.
“We will not shut down our schools. We will not accept your lockdowns. We will not abide by your mask mandates and we will not tolerate your vaccine mandates.”
In response to Trump’s video, former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake agreed, writing:
“Amen, Mr. President. WE WILL NOT COMPLY.”
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are very few hospitalizations categorized as “COVID” right now. The agency confirmed that “97 percent of the country” remains low on the scale of COVID hospitalizations.
Even former Trump official Deborah Birx, a sidekick of Tony Fauci, agrees that reimplementing mask mandates is a bad idea.
“We don’t need to mandate,” Birx told Newsmax. “We need to actually empower people with the information that they need for themselves and their families because every family is different.”
“And by the way, outside is safe, and playgrounds are safe.”
