Acupuncture is a widely used alternative medicine for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, but its effectiveness on preventing coronary heart disease (CHD) in people with RA has not been investigated. Researchers from Taiwan conducted a large-scale study assessing the CHD risk in acupuncture users and non-users of RA patients. Their findings were published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
The researchers conclude that acupuncture shows promise in preventing the development of CHD in RA patients in Taiwan. They note that their findings provide useful data for further clinical and mechanistic studies.
