Put the phone down: Excessive phone usage may expose you to harmful radiation

If you own a smartphone, you’re probably using it 24/7. After all, you can do almost anything online now: banking, shopping, and even watching movies.

However, it’s not healthy to fall asleep while reading an exciting new e-book or binge-watching your favorite show. Keeping electronic devices in your bedroom may increase your risk of developing health problems like cancer and infertility

The video below, which was uploaded on the official Natural News Brighteon channel, warns people not to sleep near their phones to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.

Is your phone increasing your cancer risk?

According to the video, the California Department of Health (CDPH) advises people to put some distance between themselves and their phone.

Cell phones transmit information using low-frequency radio signals that expose users to unhealthy radiation. This increases the risk of developing cancer, attention and mental health disorders, and reproductive health issues. The easiest way to avoid exposure is to keep your phone several feet away from you as much as you can.

Cell phone safety tips

Cell phones emit electromagnetic fields (EMFs) or electromagnetic radiation, which may damage the cells in your body. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) even classifies EMFs from cell phones as potential carcinogens.

EMFs are bad for you because they may interfere with the body’s natural electrical system. They can also disrupt the healing process, hormone production, immune system function, and sleep.

Try these suggestions to protect yourself from your cell phone:

  • Don’t sleep next to your phone. Put your phone on airplane mode or keep it on the other side of your room if you’re going to sleep. If you need the alarm clock on your phone, get an actual alarm clock that doesn’t emit EMFs.
  • Eat foods that will strengthen your nervous system. The nervous system is the first body system affected by EMFs. Foods that can protect your cells from the potentially damaging effects of electromagnetic radiation include egg yolks, homemade slow-cooked bone broths, organic fruits and vegetables, organically raised red meats (such as beef, bison, lamb, and venison), and raw dairy products. Take an omega-3 fatty acid supplement, which can help support cell membrane integrity.
  • Get an EMF shielding device. Purchase a cell phone holder, holster, or shield, which may help block radiation. Before buying a product, check its SAR (specific absorption rate) value, which measures the rate at which energy is absorbed by a body exposed to EMFs. A shielding device should block the majority of EMFs.
  • Keep your distance from your phone. Don’t put your phone near your body. Studies show that women who keep their phones in their bra may develop breast cancer while men who keep their cell phones on their belt (or near their reproductive organs) can have lower sperm counts and less sperm motility.
  • Switch to speaker mode. Holding your phone to your ear exposes your salivary glands to EMFs. Research determined that there was “a fourfold increase in cancer of the parotid gland from 1970 to 2006,” but rates of other salivary gland cancers remain unchanged.
  • Text at a distance. When texting, keep your cell phone at least 30 to 40 centimeters away from your body to reduce exposure to radiation.
  • Turn your phone off if you’re not using it. Your phone won’t emit radiation if it’s turned off.
  • Use alternatives. Talk on the phone or use Skype on a computer if you need to call someone.
